The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every child in the state receives life-saving vaccines.

The pledge was made during meeting with partners supporting zero-dose interventions, chaired by the Director General of the Board, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim at the State Emergency Immunization Coordination Centre (SERICC).

In a statement issued to Health Reporters, the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Sa’adatu Suleiman, said the meeting was specifically called to bring together all partners supporting immunization activities in the zero-dose local government areas in the state.

She stated that the meeting objective was to discuss the challenges affecting progress, review strategies, and chart a clear pathway for improvement.

During the engagement meeting, the State Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Habib Maje delivered a detailed presentation highlighting the progress recorded so far in identifying and reaching zero-dose children, as well as gaps that require urgent attention.

“His presentation underscored the importance of coordinated efforts, accurate data management, and community engagement in sustaining immunization coverage,” she said.

Sa’adatu Suleiman added that discussions highlighted coordination as one of the key challenges, especially in aligning partner support with state priorities.

She stated that emphasis was made on the need for a single harmonized plan and a unified monitoring mechanism, “as this will ensure clarity on target areas, improve accountability, and guarantee that all interventions contribute to the same overall goal of reducing zero-dose cases.”

On his part, the director general stressed the importance of synergy among partners in addressing these challenges. He underscored that aligning activities under one coordinated framework would make it easier to track progress, avoid duplication, and ensure resources are directed to the most critical areas.

The stakeholders also agreed on the need for stronger collaboration, data-driven planning, and joint monitoring to accelerate progress.

“The ultimate goal is to bring zero-dose figures down and return Kano State to optimal levels of routine immunization coverage, ensuring that no child is left behind,” she added.
