Last Wednesday, 24th December 2025, I had the honour of participating in the 25th anniversary celebration of the Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) – a visionary organisation founded in 2000 by Dr Aminu Magashi Garba and one that has consistently shaped community health outcomes for a quarter of a century.
The day was symbolic and reflective. It featured the official unveiling of the CHR @25 Banner, followed by an engaging radio discussion on Express Radio under the youth-focused programme Hasken Matasa, with by Dr Musa Muhammad Bello, Nafisa Shehu and professionally moderated by Nafisa Ahmad Murtala.
During the conversation, we revisited the CHR journey – from its modest beginnings to its enduring and measurable impact across communities.
For 25 years, CHR has remained a strong voice and a practical force in maternal and child health, youth and women empowerment, health advocacy, community-based research, and evidence-driven interventions that influence policy and practice.
CHR @25 is not just an anniversary; it is a statement of consistency, credibility, and commitment to healthier communities and empowered people.
The journey continues—and the impact speaks for itself.
