The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has announced a committee for the launch of the Health Policy and Strategic Planning committee of the association.
The committee composed of the NMA 1st Vice President, Dr Benjamin O. Olowojebutu, Chair of the NMA Health Policy and Planning Committee, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, Secretary of the NMA Ogun State, Dr Osikoya Oludotun Jonathan and ASG, Lagos Zone, Dr Olawale Peter, as members.
Other members are; Dr Danbuba Umar Muhammad, Chairman of the NMA National Committee on Young and Early Career Doctors, Zamfara State, Dr Salau Tajudeen Mobolaji, a past Chairman of NMA, Lagos and Dr Mannir Bature, the National Publicity Secretary, as well as other members of the NMA.
Health Reporters Newspapers reports that the eight thematic areas in the proposed Strategic Plan are; NMA Institutional and Organizational Development; Strengthening strategic communication, rebranding and partnership; Improving patients’ care via well-defined engagement with the Federal and States Ministries of Health and their agencies, taking advantage of the National Health Act, the Health Sector Renewal and Investment Initiative and relevant strategic plans and blueprints
Others are; Improving Clinical Governance and Accountability; Improving Doctors Welfare, wellbeing, safety and restoration of dignity; Strengthening Intra and Inter Professional Relationships and Engagement; Enhancing the NMA strategic purchasing power and innovative health financing and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning throughout the implementation of the strategy.
The association had during the just concluded NMA NEC Conference and Meeting held from Tuesday December 2, to Friday December, 5 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, adopted the NMA Strategic Plan, ably chaired by Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, as a working document of the NMA.
Some of the Terms of Reference of the committee includes; Planning the strategic launch, mobilise launchers of the strategic plan, organise a technical session and invite important dignitaries to the event among others.
