The Immunization Manager of Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa state, Alhaji Abdullahi Sarawa, has tasked immunisation personnel to ensure effective management of Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) to ensure total eradication of the disease.
Alhaji Sarawa gave the charge while reviewing the report of the ongoing immunisation exercise in Kafin Hausa.
He said that it was imperative for immunisation personnel to utilise the vaccines and ensure house-to-house visit to enhance coverage in the exercise.
The immunization manager said the agency had trained immunisation workers on effective administration of vaccines and how to create awareness on the disease so as to mobilise participation in the exercise.
“The primary healthcare agency provided cold rooms and containers for proper storage of vaccines. You are expected to make good use of vaccines and visit residential homes to administer it on children,” he told the immunisation officers.
According to him, about 90,000 children were expected to be immunised in the area, adding that antigens and malaria drugs would be distributed to women and children.
He said that the agency had supplied over 90,000 doses of OPV to facilitate smooth conduct of the exercise in the area.
Also commenting, the council’s Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Usman, expressed satisfaction with the level of participation in the exercise.
Alhaji Usman commended parents for presenting their wards for immunisation and cooperation towards the successful conduct of the exercise.
He said the council had provided 90 cartons of candies to woo children to accept the vaccines.
The chairman reaffirmed the council’s commitment towards enhancing quality healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
