The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) has paid an impactful advocacy visit to Director of the Reproductive Health Division, Dr. Samuel Oyeniyi at the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja.

The AHBN delegation was led by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, alongside Ms Amina Haladu.

The AHBN warmly congratulated Dr Oyeniyi on his recent appointment as Director of the Reproductive Health Division and recognized his continued leadership as the Nigeria’s Focal Point for Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere (EWENE) initiative.

The purpose of the visit was to build consensus and deepen alignment on the implementation of the EWENE Acceleration Plan in Nigeria.

This engagement strongly complements AHBN’s ongoing work under Strengthening Accountability for Women’s Health and our ongoing Collaborative Advocacy Action Plan being globally led by PMNCH.

The visit reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing women’s health.

Notably, both parties agreed to strengthen collaboration between AHBN and the Family Health Department, intensify advocacy for the establishment of Family Health Departments across 18 states (only 8 currently have them).

They also agreed to jointly convene a national stakeholder meeting to review the progress of EWENE Acceleration Plan and shape unified advocacy messages and actions to support its implementation.

This renewed partnership underscores a common vision: a Nigeria where every woman, every newborn, everywhere has access to quality, accountable, and equitable health services.
