The House of Representatives, on Wednesday urged the Presidential Committee on North-East Initiatives (PCNI) to rehabilitate and equip the Cottage Hospital, Gulak and the General Hospital in Michika.
The house also urged that the access roads to the two facilities should be reconstructed to sustain the high number of patients and returning Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), seeking medical care at the hospital.
The call followed a motion by member from Adamawa, Alhaji Adamu Kamale.
Moving the motion, Alhaji Kamale said that recent attacks at markets, military check points and worship places in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa by suicide bombers, injured many people.
He said that a cottage hospital at Gulak burnt down by the insurgents and a dilapidated general hospital at Michika, were currently serving as centres for treatment of victims of insurgency.
Kamale expressed concern that the two facilities lacked the resources and equipment to treat the large number of victims of insurgency.
He therefore said that it was necessary for the Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative to intervene in the infrastructure devastation in the zone, and urged the lower house to take up the matter.
After contributions from other members, the Speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara, mandated the Committee on Health Institutions and Committee on Healthcare Services to follow the case.
He charged the committees to ensure that the rehabilitation of the two health facilities was processed, adding that the committees should report back to the house within six weeks.
