Senator Monguno joins fight against Zero-Dose as Immunisation Champion

The Chief Whip of the 10thg Senate, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno has joined the fight against Zero-Dose children by accepting to serve as Champion of Immunisation and Primary Health Care (PHC).

Senator Monguno, who represents Borno North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, made the pledge when the Zero Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) team paid a high-level advocacy visit in his office in Abuja.

Health Reporters Newspaper reports that the ZDLH consortium present at the visit include representatives from the Africa Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), Dr Endi Waziri, Professor Yahaya Mohammed, and Dr Hyelshilni Waziri.

While the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) team includes; Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, Hon. Muhammad Usman, Miss Amina Haladu and Sadiq Malami.

During the visit, the ZDLH team expressed appreciation to Senator Monguno for granting them audience and provided an overview of the ZDLH project, highlighting key challenges and notable success stories.

The team also formally requested Senator Monguno to serve as a Champion of Immunisation and Primary Health Care (PHC)

Responding, Senator Monguno thanked the team for broadening his understanding of the immunisation landscape.

He assured the delegation of his willingness to support the ZDLH project in every possible way, including the possibility of proposing legislative amendments if necessary.

The senator also expressed readiness to provide constituency budgetary support for Routine Immunisation (RI) in Borno North Senatorial District, through his constituency fund.

“I accept to serve as a Champion of Immunisation and promise to be an ambassador who will preach the gospel of immunisation and primary healthcare everywhere,” Senator Monguno said.
