Sokoto to deploy 21 medical graduates to PHCs

Sokoto State Government has said it was set to deploy its 21 medical graduates from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, to Primary Healthcare Centres across the state.

The state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Balarabe Kakale, made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Sokoto.

He said: “These new medical officers had graduated from the institution under the 2014/2015 academic session and they were inducted on Tuesday. They had been employed by the state government on grade level seven, since when they were in level 400 in the university.

“Similarly, they have been enjoying their normal salaries and allowances since then. So, they will now be temporarily posted to the PHCs, to work under close supervision of their senior colleagues.”

Dr. Kakale explained that the new medical officers would be permanently posted after the completion of their forthcoming National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) and Houseman-ship.

The commissioner said that, their temporary deployment across the state was aimed at providing effective healthcare services to the door steps of people of the state especially in the rural areas.
