Sokoto State Government has pledged support to the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) initiative aimed at eliminating zero doses in the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Dadi Adare pledged the ministry’s support when he received the AHBN Community of Practice (CoP) team during an advocacy visit to the ministry.
The Commissioner applauded AHBN’s effort to assist communities in achieving zero doses and promised the network support in fulfilling its obligations centred on community involvement and engagement.
“This ministry will be willing to collaborate with you and support you in carrying out your responsibilities. Remember that your responsibility is to assist the state. We are willing to collaborate with you so that you can help us help our people.
“We have a community development department, and we have the 23 local government areas that we supervise. Do not hesitate; any time you want us to support you, we are willing to do that,” Adare said.
Earlier, AHBN Sokoto State Focal Person Umar Kadi sought the Commissioner’s support for the CoP in discharging its responsibility to expedite progress in enhancing routine immunisation coverage, specifically targeting children who have not received a single regular dose (referred to as zero-dose children).
“One of the objectives of AHBN is to ensure that everyone is carried along, especially on the zero-dose reduction in Sokoto State.”
