Stakeholders laud UNICEF, NIEPA’s moves to transform education in Adamawa

Education stakeholders in Adamawa lauded the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF-Nigeria) and National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA-Nigeria) on their commitment to education transformation in the state.

Some of the stakeholders stated this at the end of five-day training and drafting of the Adamawa State Education Sector Strategic Plan (SESP) and the State Education Sector Operational Plan (SESOP) in Gombe.

Malam Bappayo Mohammed, Director of human capital development, Adamawa ministry of education said, the exercise would go along way to ensure quality education for the children in the state.

He assured that they will remain committed to ensure the document is completely aligned with the national development agenda and the SDG 4 framework as expected.

Mr Stephen Maidugu, Chairman Adamawa Education Working Group in Emergency also appreciated the organisers and resources persons for providing technical support during the exercise.

He also advocated  for the establishment of the Adamawa State Education Trust Fund to serve as an alternative source of funding to sustain Education development in the state.

In her address, Dr Opeyemi Oyekan, NIEPA’s Assistant Chief Training and Research fellows tasked the nine man committee to submit all the needed data to have the real draft.

According to her, at the end of the day Adamawa will be part of the best education sector in the country.

Malam Muhammad Musa, Chairman National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Adamawa State Chapter expressed the need for the government to provide them with support.

According to him, the pupils in private schools were indigents hence the need for them to enjoy the government and partners funds.

Abubakar Abba, representative of Persons with Special Needs appreciated the organisers for their concern for their members and driving the move for their  inclusion in public schools
