The Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto, has resumed the hospital-wide inspection for on-the-spot assessment of services and equipment available in the hospital.

Dr Anas Sabir, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, disclosed during the inspection on Tuesday in Sokoto. In all the places inspected, Sabir assured the members of staff of management’s commitment to improving quality of healthcare delivery by the hospital.

He therefore called on Heads of Departments and workers to support the management drive for better hospital services. He said: “The inspection will resume tomorrow to cover MRI suites, Medical Library, IHVN/Infectious Diseases Lab., Vamed guest house and Biomedical engineering workshop.

“Departments inspected are Trauma centre, Radiotherapy, Crown Continental Security office and the hospital mosque premises. “Other places include stores complex, stationery, medical equipment, cleaning materials, furniture and medical stores. “The team also inspected the oxygen plant and Crescent Cafe building which houses the Sahel Medical Journal office,” he said.

At the medical library staff, Sabir said the management was not unaware of the condition of the Library building hence the decision to inspect the facility despite that it was temporarily closed.

He therefore assured the staff that management would do everything possible to effect necessary repairs on the building and “put it back to active use.”

“This round of inspection covered the remaining departments and units in the hospital after management embarked for an on-the-spot assessment of services and equipment available in the hospital to improve standard,” he said. Sabir described the inspection a success and welcomed by the hospital community.
