The United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said provided access to Routine Immunization and other health services to 40,771 children below age five and 21,543 women living in difficult terrain in Zamfara state.
The result was released by UNICEF Field Officer, Sokoto Zone, Mr. Mohammed Mohiuddin, after a mid-year review meeting between UNICEF and officials of the state government in Gusau.
According to statement issued to newsmen, Mr. Mohiuddin said 15,060 severely malnourished children were treated, while 15 schools were equipped with hand washing facility.
The Field officer also said 67 boreholes and 145 new hand pumps were provided to communities in six Local Government Areas of the state.
He said the 2017 work plan was being processed to align with the state government’s budgetary process for the year.
According to him, the work plan will be signed in December for implementation to commence in January, 2017.
