The State Commissioner of Health, Alhaji Lawal Liman, disclosed this in Gusau on Thursday, while speaking to newsmen after meeting with some development partners in the state.
Liman said the ministry took the decision to form the committee after meeting with all health related development partners in the state.According to him, the committee would be headed by the Chairman of the State Hospital Service Management Board, Dr Nasir Sa’idu.
He said that members of the committee include Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Alhaji Yusuf Marafa and the Director Pharmacy, State Ministry of Health, Alhaji Isa Muhammad.
He said other members are representatives from WHO, MSF, MNCH2, Women for Health, Save the Children and HC3, while the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the ministry, Malam Bello Anka, would serve as the secretary of the committee.
“We have mandated the committee to go round all the health facilities across the state and assess their standards and needs, to enable us improve the facilities to acceptable minimum requirement,” he said.
According to him, the committee had been given two weeks to submit its reports to the ministry. He said that setting up the committee was one of the measures taken by the government to revive the health care sector in the state.
He urged members of the committee to be hardworking and dedicated while discharging their duties. He also urged the management and staff members of health facilities in the state to cooperate with the committee, to ensure success in their given assignment.
