The Federal Government has concluded arrangement for vaccination of about 40 million under five (5) years Nigerian children against measles. The Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Ado Muhammad disclosed this during a courtesy call on him by the Managing Director, Leadership Newspaper, Mr. Abraham Nda-Isiah and some members of its editorial team. Dr. Ado explained that the campaign that is scheduled to hold in November, 2015 and January, 2016, would be conducted in two phases. The first phase he said, would be conducted in the northern parts of the country with a target population of 24.5 million children from November 21st – 25th November, 2015, while the second phase would take place in the southern parts of the country from January 28th – 1st February, 2016, with a target population of 14.5 million.
Dr. Ado seized the opportunity to highlight major achievements of the agency on primary health care including non-transmission of polio virus in the last 13 months in Nigeria. The Executive Director commended the efforts of the media organization in projecting the agency`s progammes and the remarkable achievements recorded in the delivery of effective and efficient primary health care service, especially immunization activities. He thanked the team and described the visit as an honour to the agency.
Dr. Ado appealed to the paper for continued partnership and support by providing an objective and a developmental reporting of the agency to the Nigerian populace.
In his remarks, the Managing Director, Mr. Abraham Nda-Isiah said they were in the agency to appreciate the leadership role of the Chief Executive of the Agency especially his unprecedented achievements in primary health care services to the generality of Nigerian populace and explored greater opportunities to deepen the partnership between the two organizations. He assured him of continued support of the leadership newspaper in the service to Nigeria and humanity in general.
