FG inaugurates 7 TWGs to support BHCPF2.0/SWAp

The Federal Government of Nigeria has inaugurated a seven Technical Working Groups (TWGs) for the implementation of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF 2.0) and Sector Wide Approach (SWAp).

The TWGs were inaugurated at the sixth BHCPF 2.0 Ministerial Oversight Committee (MoC) meeting chaired by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate.

The seven TWGs established and inaugurated by the minister are; Monitoring and Evaluation, Resource Coordination and Tracking, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition RMNCAH+N SWAp.

Others are; State Advisory Group, Financing for the Vulnerable Populations, Human Resource for Health and Health Security.

Representatives of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) at the meeting recommended to the MoC for CSOs representing diverse expertise and constituencies to become members of all the seven TWGs aimed at ensuring accountability and transparency.

The Coordinating Minister of Health endorsed the recommendations and asked the SWAp Coordinator Dr Muntaqa Farouk to meet with CSOs, present the concept and deliberate on CSOs membership across all the seven TWGs.

The meeting is proposed to be held on April 3rd, 2024 at a time and venue to be determined and communicated to the members of the committees.

Other approval at the MoC was of a memo to disburse over N25 billion of 2023 BHCPF Approved Budget to the states across the four gateways.
