The Coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN), Dr Aminu Magashi Garba has paid a working visit to the College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri, (UNIMAID).
During the visit, Dr Magashi inspected a 10KVA Solar Power System project executed by his classmates, the Class of 2001.
The AHBN Coordinator was in Maiduguri, Borno State, for an official engagement at the third quarter 2025 review meeting of Zero Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH), Community of Practice (CoP).
The 10KVA solar power system, completed project, situated at the College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), was executed and commissioned earlier this year by Dr Magashi’s classmate at the institution.
Health Reporters Newspaper reports that the project is part of the group’s effort to make teaching and learning better in the college, and give back to the society that trained them.
Some members of the class present during the inspection includes Professor Hassan Dogo and Professor Ibrahim Abdul, among others.
Also, an alumnus of the college and Borno State Focal Person for the ZDLH, Dr Adamu Alhassan Umar, was among the delegation.
The delegation was received by the President of University of Maiduguri Medical Students Association (UMMESA) Umar Zannah and some of the executive members of the association.
After the inspection visit Dr. Magashi and members of the class visited one of their members, Dr Zaharadden Dauda at his family home within UMTH.
Dr Zahradeen, a Neurosurgeon had been wheelchair bound for years following an accident during the course of his work.
The wounded doctor appreciated the class mates for the visit and providing him with a new electric wheel chair.
