The Bauchi State Agency for the Control of AIDS, Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA) has donated HIV/AIDS and malaria consumables to the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (BASPHCDA), in support of newborn and child health programmes in the state.
The Executive Secretary of BACATMA, Dr. Dada Mansur said the drugs and items is part of the agency’s contribution to the success of the five point health agenda of Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.
Represented by the Director Research and Statistic in the agency Alhaji Danladi Abdul, Dr. Dada urged the BASPHCDA to judiciously utilize the commodities.
Dr. Dada added that the commodities include 96 long lasting insecticide nets and over 16, 000 SP for intermittent preventive treatment of malaria among pregnant women.
Other items donated includes 15, 000 of ACT drugs, 150 cartons of malaria test kits, 2000 HIV/AIDS test kits as well as male and female condoms and lubricants.
Receiving the drugs, the Chairman of BASPHCDA, Pharmacist Adamu Gamawa, represented by the Director, Primary Health Care in the agency, Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim, appreciated the kind gesture and promised to utilize them accordingly.
