CHR encourages Governor Ganduje on Immunization Budget Release

The Community Health Research and Initiative (CHR) have encouraged Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state on timely release of budgeted fund for Routine Immunisation.

The called was made by CHR Advocacy Coordinator, Mr. Salisu Yusuf during an interactive meeting between the governor and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in the state.

While presenting the RI scorecard showing the state’s accountability performance in 2015, Mr. Yusuf tasked the state government to ensure increased budget allocation for routine immunization, timely release and accountable spending of the allocated funds.

The CHR’s advocacy coordinator urged the governor to prioritize health by paying attention to child and family health issues, the advocacy message of Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health (PACFaH), a coalition of NGOs which CHR is a member.

He called on the governor to embrace the PACFaH message in the state, which he said will guarantee protection of lives of women and children in key areas of nutrition, routine immunization, family planning and ensuring adequate provision of resources for drugs used for treatment of pneumonia and diarrhea.

In his response, governor Ganduje declared his commitment to ensure timely release of funds for Routine Immunization activities in the state.

The governor assured the CSOs of his readiness to work closely with the partners to improve the health program in the state.

According to him one of his promises to people of Kano, is to ensure quality health care services are available to the people, adding that he is committed to redeeming all funding commitments by the state for its Routine immunization activities.

The governor commended CHR and the CSOs for the partnership with the state and called for further collaboration.

The meeting was attended by the state Deputy Governor, Professor Hafizu Abubakar, Commissioners of Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba, Women Affairs, Barrister Zubaida Abubakar, Local Government Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, Commerce and Industry Alhaji Rabiu Bako.

Others are; Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, State APC Chairman, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, and Special Adviser on NGOs, Dr. Abdulhadi Chula among others.
