Kano State has recorded over 22, 000 deaths from malaria attacks in 2015, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, stated at a Press Conference to mark the World Malaria Day.

Dr. Getso said the number in the state was high because of environmental challenges, which remained the major health concern of the state.

“The administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje recently purchased items worth N59 million to curb malaria in the state and these include malaria test machines, drugs as well as mosquitoes nets,” he said.

The commissioner added that the state had embarked on special training of health workers from the 44 Local Government Areas on malaria management.
