The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Enugu said it has confiscated unwholesome and unregistered sedative drugs worth more than N25 million.
The State Co-coordinator of the agency, Mr. Ikechukwu Okoye, told newsmen in Enugu that the agency was able to achieve that through collaboration with the state Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.
He, however, said the importer of the seized drugs was at large, adding that the agency and customs officials were making concerted efforts to apprehend him.
The coordinator warned members of the public to be wary of products they buy, “the key thing is being watchful over what one buys and ensuring that each product has NAFDAC number well written.
“The members of the public should also check both the expiring and manufacturing dates of the products that are always written closely together,” he said.
