The Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative (PCNI) is to conduct a free medical intervention for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Gombe state.

Chairman of the committee, Malam Tijjani Tumsa, disclosed this in Gombe on Tuesday when the committee paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.

He said the outreach will commence on Monday through Friday, in collaboration with the state government.

He said the intervention would be conducted in diverse fields.

Tumsa said the committee had commenced a five-day retreat in Gombe to strategise on how to actualise the goals of the PCNI.

“We are transiting from intervention to development of projects in the North East,” he said.

In his response, Governor Dankwambo commended PCNI for its various interventions, adding that all were judiciously utilised.

He urged the committee to carry out more developmental projects in the region as the committee’s name entailed.

He also prayed that IDPs camp in the North East region would be a history in the nearest future.
