UNIDO urges MSMEs to leverage on AFCFTA opportunities

The United Nations Industrial Organisation (UNIDO), has urged the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to leverage on African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA).

UNIDO’s Regional Director, Mr Jean Bakole made the call at the project Awareness Dissemination Event on Strengthening the Capacities of MSMEs to produce high quality Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on Thursday in Lagos, Nigeria.

He said that AFCFTA was an opportunity provided for the MSMEs to showcase and grow their businesses.

According to him, it was imperative for the MSMEs to produce high quality products that it will help them compete in the global market.

He urged them to work together and develop businesses for optimal result, adding that it was a gateway for growth in business.

Bakole said that business owners would be stronger if they worked and developed businesses together.

“The business world is big; it is important to share ideas and build businesses together. I enjoin each and every one of you to make production of high-quality products a set goal and culture.

“If a product is of low quality, it cannot be sold in the international market,” he said. He urged the business owners to have a good marketing strategy for their businesses, adding that marketing strategy was imperative in selling products.
