The Nigerian Army has conducted free medical screening for personnel serving in the Two Division of the Nigerian Army at Adekunle Fajuyi cantonment, Odogbo, Oyo state.

The General Officer Commanding the Two Division, Major General Laz Ilo, stressed the importance of the free healthcare screening which took place in Ibadan, the state capital.

Major Ilo said the free screening became imperative to assist soldiers, their families and neighbouring communities who could not afford regular checkups.

The initiator of the programme and the Chairperson, Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, Two Division, Mrs. Ilo, said the screening was organised to help those who could not afford it and those who were too busy with their duties.

During the screening, referrals were made for serious cases, tips on how to stay healthy were given out to participants.

She said the health and welfare of soldiers and their family are critical to efficient service delivery and upholding the cardinal principles guiding the Army.

“This necessitated the ongoing free healthcare services and screening for crucial indexes like blood pressure and sugar at the division of the Nigerian Army,” she said.
