Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, has inaugurated a 17-member committee to draft the blueprint for his 2027 governorship campaign.
The committee, chaired by Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, has a mandate to review the implementation of the 2023 blueprint titled “My Commitment for Kano,” and produce Blueprint 2.0 to guide the administration’s policy direction for a second term.
A statement issued Friday by Governor Yusuf’s Spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the committee will work under the close supervision of Governor Yusuf and his Deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, while Dr Magashi is appointed to serve as chairman of the committee, with Dr Yusuf Ya’u Gambo, Executive Chairman, Strategic Governance and Policy Coordination as Secretary.
Other members of the committee are; Dr. Ibrahim Musa – Special Adviser, Health Services and Personal Physician to the Governor, Mallam Haladu Muhammad – Technical Adviser, Education Reform, Hon. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa – Director General, Media and Publicity, Muhammad Nazir Halliru – Director General, Kano State Investment Promotion Agency (Kan-Invest).
The committee also includes; , Nana Asma’u Jibrin – Director General, Research and Documentation and Dr Bashir Abdu Muzakkar – Director General, Kano State Information Technology Development Agency (KASITDA), Dr. Farouk Kurawa – Managing Director, Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA), Kabiru Sani Yakubu – Managing Director, Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), Dr Yusuf Ya’u Gambo – Executive Chairman, Strategic Governance and Policy Coordination (Secretary).
Others are; Dr Abdulhadi Zubairu Chula – Executive Chairman, Ajingi Local Government Council, Engr. Yesmin Mukhtar – Senior Special Assistant on Women Education, Dr. Halima Umar Sani – Bayero University, Dr. Kabiru Shehu, Barr. Musa Lawan Abdullahi, Dr. Nasiru Alasan Kabo and Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso.
Bature said the committee is mandated to review the implementation of the 2023 blueprint, “My Commitment for Kano,” identify areas yet to be fully implemented and incorporate them into Blueprint 2.0.
He added, “It will also articulate Governor Yusuf’s priorities and strategic vision for a second term from 2027 to 2031.
“The committee is further expected to engage stakeholders from both state and non-state sectors to generate innovative ideas and policy recommendations that will produce a comprehensive, inclusive and people-driven blueprint capable of consolidating the gains of the present administration and accelerating Kano State’s development.”
Health Reporters Newspaper reports that the appointment leverages on Dr Magashi’s expertise as a public health expert and advocate, having previously chaired the 2023 Kano State Health Transition Committee and currently serving as Co-Chair of the Anti-Drug Task Force.
