The people of Yarlauje village in Malumfashi Local Government of Katsina state, has demanded for the construction of borehole as pre-condition to allow Polio Vaccines to be administered on their children.

The community refused to accept the polio vaccine immunization exercise last week, demanded provision of a borehole to address the perennial water shortage in the area before their children could be immunized.

According to the source who craved for anonymity, all efforts to convince them proved abortive until the officials of the polio exercise were forced to drink from the contaminated water source in the community before they will allow their wards to be administered with the vaccine.

However, Health Reporters gathered that Malumfashi council’s Head of Administration, Dikko Kofar Sauri has pledged to construct a borehole for the community when the matter was raised in the post-polio immunization exercise meeting held in the area.

In his remarks, the Galadiman Katsina and District Head of Malumfashi, Justice Mamman Nasir warned that village heads would henceforth be held responsible for any non-compliance in their domains.
